Knevel Architecten is, in a team with DS Landschapsarchitecten, Lighting Artist Paul Baartmans and Groen Licht Verkeersadviezen, selected as one of 10 from 19 teams to do a design study for the BNA ' Transit Oriented Development ' - opportunities for the Zaancorridor.
Transit Oriented Development ( TOD ) is a new strategy for regional planning and is based on the combination of infrastructure and spatial development . The Zaan Corridor consists of a series of villages and towns between Amsterdam and Heerhugowaard , with associated roads, railways , public transportation nodes, residential building sites , old town centers , industrial areas and nature areas and offers a major challenge , as there are many inhabitants who work elsewhere. Because there are great opportunities for architects in the field of infrastructure, the Community of Practice Infrastructure of BNA Research set up a project in which the design strength of architects is used to develop a fresh look at a number of nodes.
The others selected teams are : Architectuurstudio HH, Venhoeven CS, NUNC architecten, M3H, Zwarts & Jansma architecten, XVW architectuur, korth tielens architecten, Gedachtegoederen en Architectenbureau Micha de Haas.
