Climbing and Alpine centre for the neighbourhood and the city
We are proud to announce that Knevel Architecten is designing a new Climbing and Alpine centre in Nieuwegein for Mountain Network. It is part of a new area called Hoeverijk, existing of 170 housing units and facilities such as a supermarket and a restaurant. On the 7th of may the project developers Lunee Vastgoed / Trebbe Wonen have signed the agreement with the Municipality of Nieuwegein for the realisation of Hoeverijk!
The ambition is to create a Climbing and Alpine centre with an international character. It will be a vibrant environment with a unique mix of functions facilitating the neighbourhood and the city. The total program of approximately 3.500m² will exist of different types of climbing and supporting facilities such as a restaurant, shop and physical therapy. In the public space a central competition plaza, connected to the building, functioning as an extension of the climbing entre. Possibly a location suitable for the IFSC Climbing Worldcup lead!
Construction is expected to begin in 2020.
