Canopy covers first food and automotive court of the Netherlands
Knevel Architecten designed the first Multi Traffic Point (MTP Hoorn), a food and automotive court, of the Netherlands for MTP Zevenhuis BV. The complex exists of different (drive-in) restaurants, a gas station and a carwash.
MTP Hoorn has in the most prominent location of Zevenhuis, an industrial estate along the Westfriesiaweg N23. The N23 is a new highway connection between Alkmaar and Zwolle. In this area the food and automotive court is a development with a representative and unified appearance.
The plan exists of a clear infrastructure, green public space, terraces and buildings. An integrated design is achieved by a canopy, covering the buildings and public space, and uniform façades. The advertising tower of 30m is a landmark of MTP Hoorn and guides the visitors within the area. The composition of advertising, colours and materials creates a clear appearance and characterises the public space, while creating a unified appearance.
