With over five years of experience in BIM processes and LEAN, Knevel Architecten works closely with clients and project partners. As the communication lines are short due to compact a design team (combination of BIM modellers and project manager) and low overhead costs, Knevel Architecten has lowered their fees considerably. Instead of accumulating more profit by application of BIM, it rather lowers costs for the client (aprox. 20% lower than the traditional building process)
Building Information technology
The creation of a prototype is virtually impossible in the construction sector. The building will be the finished object and prototype at the same time, inevitably presenting opportunities for errors and therefore additional costs. Added to this, the sector has witnessed a rise in so-called failure costs. This rise of costs has been principally due to the increasing complexity of buildings and installations. Attuning the information in the design and processing phases is therefore a prerequisite. One excellent tool for supporting this is making use of a ‘Building Information Model’ (BIM).
BIM means that, during designing, constructing and project managing processes, all data regarding the architecture, structural detailing, technical installation and setting-out are integrated in a three dimensional building model. This permits any potential problems to be flagged up and resolved at an early stage, reducing further the likelihood of failure costs during construction. BIM can also be used as a tool for managing complex tasks.
Knevel Architecten has extensive experience with the (3-dimensional) design/drawing package ‘Revit Architecture’.
