The design for a screen next to the highway A1 is part of a commission for a new IKEA store in Amersfoort.

design
The supply of goods for this IKEA store will take place on the side of the highway. Because this operation provides an unattractive appearance, the choice has been made to visually block the view with a diffuse screen. With its length of 205 meters and a height of 18 meters the screen, which is placed on a vegetated plinth, covers the whole IKEA site.
The screen consists of expanded metal in the IKEA blue colour and is equipped with a yellow IKEA word mark. The use of colour and the diffuse nature of the screen creates a direct connection with the IKEA building. In the evening the screen becomes lively by an illuminated LED line which is integrated in the screen over the entire length.
