The owner of the house requested a swimming pool in a modern style that at the same time could be used as a fitness area. The concept consists of a ten meter long structure that fully stretches across the whole west side of the terrace. Due to the free spanning structure and its openness the terras and backyard keep an open connection and allow the user to experience the surrounding landscape.
The pool house consists of a repetition of steel elements that spatially connects the existing house to the poolhouse and steel portals. Glass elements close the structure of. The structural system of the glass panels can be opened, giving the client the option to train in the open air.

The assignment concerns the construction of a pool house forming part of a villa on the river Amstel in Amstelveen (Amsterdam region). The plot is situated alongside the river and has an open open view in three directions.
location
In between the urbanized structure on the southside of the Amsterdam lies a green polder landscape where the Amstel flows through. A ribbon of detached houses stretches alongside the Amstel dike on the westbank of the river.
