IKEA BUSINESS COLLEGE
interior training center
design
Starting point for the organization of the program, is to determine the potential of the program to communicate and connect to passers-by on the highway, people coming from the city and visiting IKEA customers. For example, this involves the entrance and exit area, restaurant and college area. For this reason, the program is shown by large glass surfaces.
This means that the supporting parts of the program, such as the printing and copying room, smoking lounge, toilets and various consultation rooms are housed in a so-called program-based strip-shaped core. This core is considered at a certain distance set back from the facade. This gives a clear structure to the large areas and a recognizable organization of many functions.
The majority of the strip walls are executed in glass in the longitudinal direction. This provides not only an open character, but also ensures daylight penetrating far into the building.
