VISIE ZEEBURGERPAD
urban plan in Amsterdam
design
The urban vision is a first step towards the elaboration of the established vision for Zeeburgerpad, which was formulated by the Board Members of the city district. It also forms the first step in the actual approach of developing the area. Given the environment, the emphasis to shift from a working into a residential area, when approaching the city, seems logical (from a geographical point of view). The same applies for the build height and density. Next to this, a non continuous building strip is desired.

assignment
The research involves an optimization of a location within an urban context. The area covers the plots Zeeburgerpad 41 – 50 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
location
Traditionally, the business site Zeeburgerpad was located on the edge of the city and was dominated by industrial companies. Over the years, the area had changed. Now, this city business site is sandwiched between the “Indische buurt”, the “Oostelijke Havengebied”, the “Zeeburgereiland” and “IJburg”. The Zeeburgerpad forms an enclave in the encroaching city. Next to this, the area no longer meets the proper requirements for business properties.
