WONING VLEUTEN
new private house in Vleuten
location
The location is situated at the edge of the neighbourhood Vleuterwijde in Vleuten. The neighbourhood is situated at the northeast of the property. Towards the south and the west, there is a view over a park-like edge. Behind this edge, a green countryside is found.
The design of the building masses and the degree of openness versus closeness, determine together the orientation of the house. By the desire of the client, the ground floor is designed as a spacious living area. The consequence is that a modest surface on the first floor is left. This gained the possibility to create a large void, creating a spatial connection between the living room, dining room and kitchen.
On the south and west side, the house orientates itself towards the surrounded nature by its large glass surfaces in the facade. The surrounding buildings towards the north and east side of the dwelling, is hardly experienced because of its orientation in the south west direction. As a result, the dwelling contains a great experience of privacy and openness at the same time.

assignment
The assignment concerns the execution of freestanding residence for a private client in Vleuten.
design
The dwelling consists of two floors. The ground floor volume on the east and south side follows the edges of the plot. The first floor is rectangular, smaller in size than the ground floor and is more shifted towards the west.
For the facade, a high level of abstraction is aimed by a composition of surfaces over the full height of the floor. These surfaces are held together by the continuity of floor fields. The intuitive variety of materials in the facade, leads to a composition of masses, closed surfaces, translucent surfaces and transparent surfaces. This creates a sophisticated game of shelter and openness in the interior.
